Purpose:

The unit applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.

Description:

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults.

Assessment:

Training and assessment for this unit is competency based. Training and assessment may include but is not limited to practical class sessions, written work and emergency scenarios.
The theory component of this program can be completed externally. It will be necessary to attend a one day practical training and assessment to finalise this course.

Entry Requirements:

There are no entry requirements for this program; however it is recommended that students be over 14 years of age and have sufficient literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the course.

Qualification Requirements:

The successful completion of this course will enable a nationally recognised Statement of Result to be issued for HLTAID004 Provide an emergency response in an education and care setting
